Description Tom Atkinson 2022-08-12 15:44:07 UTC
Description:
Catastrophic inability to interact with bibliography database on the 1 file I have attempted to export a db on due to the iwindow either being obscured by the example demo db, or that when I select Window -> [radio button] My Doc only the example database is showing, with first entry s ARJ00 by Artymiak, All attempts to close or workaround fail: choosing File -> Close does close the window but it's required to see the database and I assume, export it.

The example db is called "Bibliography Database" and can never be closed or have the real db selected from the pull-down menus. There does not appear to be any other method to switch the view, or delete the example or see where it came from. Picking from the menu causes the db window to disappear behind the main document editing window and clicking the window on my taskbar (cinnamon), brings it back with the example db opnly. Clicking Choose Data Source only shows one data source which is selecteed.

If I get desperate maybe I will try hack the db direct.
I guess that would be
/home/tom/.config/libreoffice/4/user/database/biblio.odb

Luckily it is not urgent but having hit 38,000 words 163 pages and

On Linux Mint, two displays 1280x1024 on the left, 1920x1080 on right. Miday in the video I switch to Mirror Displays.

Version: 6.4.7.2
Build ID: 1:6.4.7-0ubuntu0.20.04.4
CPU threads: 16; OS: Linux 5.15; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3;
Locale: en-NZ (en_NZ.UTF-8); UI-Language: en-US

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Install Linux Mint (bleeding edge) Cinnamon, install LibreOffice probably via regular software manager from distro.Linux Mint 20.3 Cinnamon
2. Open large 53 MB file 'An Astonishing Encyclopaedia MASTER DOCX.docx'
3. Choose Tools -> Bibliography Database menu

Actual Results:
Bibliography db from my doc: "Bibliography Database" is showing. I can resize and close it, but never switch from this example that appears to be already included in LibreOffice I guess. First entry is ARJ00 by Artymiak, Jacek with title "LibreOffice Calc Functions and Formulas Tips"

Expected Results:
Bibliography db from my doc: "An Astounding Encyclo..." should show. Then I hope to export it for use in JabRef (java biblatex editor) or other Biblatex GUI.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

OpenGL enabled: Yes

in the video you can see I try a number of ways to bring the bibliography database for my document to the foreground. I don't think I have yet seen said window.... the window does appear populated with a test or sample bibliography database that is not part of my doc.

@Tom : indulge me, if you will, as I'm struggling to understand your setup, and hence, the issue to hand.

1) What kind of document format are you using for your word processing document in Writer (ODT/some other export format) ?

2) When you mention your own bibliography DB, how have you created that, and where is it stored on your file system ?

It would be very helpful if you could post an example word processing file with corresponding bibliography DB file (unless of course, it is integrated into the word processing file), otherwise I might be clutching at straws trying to reproduce.
