Description seth_rms 2022-08-12 19:00:37 UTC
Within writer, created a large table with simple text in each cell, some with numbers, others without. table is 26 rows currently. All elements centered by selecting whole table and click centered. Creating a new entry in a previously empty cell, (with no other changes) reformats ALL cells in the table to left justified.

I am using 7.3.5.2, have not checked any other versions

New detail: The problem only occurs when new rows are added to an existing table.Only then will the previously centered text suddenly become left justified.

Are you using the "Table - AutoFormat Styles" feature?

If that's the case, then the lost alignment may be because you used a style that has left alignment.

To fix that, just select the table again, go to "Table - AutoFormat Styles" and uncheck the "Alignment" option before applying the style.

No, I had not set AutoFormat styles; I was not aware of that function; I did not deliberately set AutoFormat. I reviewed help on that, and AutoFormat was checked; unchecking AutoFormat did correct the problem. That does solve my problem, but should AutoFormat be on by default? Also, after I change the format in the first (approximately) 20 rows, why should they be changed back to the default when I decide to add more rows?

Actually its working fine by my side. i dont see any kind of issues as mentioned here.

Steps followed:

1.opened libre office
2.created a table - 8 Rows and 32 columns
3.added new row and entered the text
4.alignment is working fine

Enviornment:

linux mint - 20.2
LibreOffice Writer - 7.4.0.0 Alpha

AutoFormat is not something that is on or off. It is applied to a table explicitly.

I guess this can be closed.
