I confirm the behavior reported by the OP. But this may be by design. When you click the Style Inspector you can use your keyboard to navigate the properties. For instance, when you expand the style and press "B" in your keyboard, then the first property that starts with "B" will be selected. This is handy considering the huge amount of properties. I would agree with "not a bug", as it happens with other sidebar decks, including if clicking anything in the Styles sidebar, or expanding a Navigator category. After that, typing can search for items in the Style Inspector's list. Maybe another report can be opened to have some indicator persist, that is different to the normal cursor, as not to confuse the user in thinking that typing will work in document?
