Created attachment 181781 [details] Document with tb-lr page text direction Open attached file. It has page text direction "left-to-right (vertical)". That is for Mongolian texts. Save it to DOCX format and open the saved file in Word. Result: The page direction is "vertical" instead. That is text is top-down, then right-left. Expected: The page direction is top-down, left-right. Word is able to use this page direction although a UI in a western Word has no option to set it.
Created attachment 181783 [details] Document with tb-lr created by Word To test, that Word is really able to use tb-lr I have attached such document created by Word. To get a UI in Word you need to install the Mongolian Traditional language pack in Windows.
Unfortunately there are problems in how Word uses ISO/IEC 29500-1:2016. Thus a standard conform solution might be not appropriate. I have posted the problem on https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/967428/value-mess-for-textdirection-in-sectpr-for-traditi.html
I confirm it with Version: 7.4.0.3 (x64) / LibreOffice Community Build ID: f85e47c08ddd19c015c0114a68350214f7066f5a CPU threads: 4; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 19044; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win Locale: de-DE (de_DE); UI: en-GB Calc: CL
MS Formats don't have page styles. A Section is the closest thing.
This looks like it was fixed in LO 7.5 with commit c70ee4a6b9071468255e5d4fdb893e9c9bdf4fad Author: Regina Henschel on Wed Aug 17 02:31:44 2022 +0200 tdf#149551 use 'WritingMode' instead of TextPreRotateAngle
