MathType is proprietary format.

LibreOffice will handle it inserted an OLE when the MathType program is installed locally. LibreOffice also supports MathType format thru its 3.1 release with conversion to StarMath/MathML, but admittedly that release is ancient.

Non the less this is a duplicate.
