Description Camaleón 2022-08-20 11:57:21 UTC
Description:
After updating to LO 7.4.0.3, every single writer document I open (either new or old ones) it renders a very bad text hinting for every font type.

Font rendering inside a text box is perfectly fine (see attached image for a visual sample of the issue).

Document font: Georgia 13 pt. UI font rendering is also fine (Tahoma 8 pt).

Steps to Reproduce:
1. For text inside a document, font rendering is bad.
2. For text inside a text box, font rendering is fine.
3. System: Debian 11 (64 bits), XFCE 4.16, Xorg.

Actual Results:
Font render on the document looks ugly

Expected Results:
Font render on the document should be fine

Reproducible: Always

Loading LO with generic X11 just works fine and text of the document and text in a box both render fine (see attached image):

sm01@stt008:~$ export SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gen
sm01@stt008:~$ /opt/libreoffice7.4/program/soffice --writer

Comment 4 Camaleón 2022-08-20 17:48:53 UTC
More info:

- On LO 7.3.1.2 fonts renderings worked fine.
- I can also reproduce the problem on my Debian testing system (LO 7.4.0.3).
- Adding a snapshot of my XFCE fonts settings config.

please see if a duplicate of bug 150507.
There was a fix trial there today so please test daily master with that fix.
Comment 7 Camaleón 2022-08-23 07:38:33 UTC
Just tested with:

Version: 7.4.1.0.0+ / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 9ad83843742354312cd543bfbed286c9f52baf1a
CPU threads: 2; OS: Linux 5.18; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3
Locale: es-ES (es_ES.UTF-8); UI: es-ES
Calc: threaded

But the issue is still there (see attached snapshot).

In my case, «SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gen» does make a difference (see comment #2).

REPRODUCED

STEPS FOLLOWED:
Screenshot showing the problem

Export of shapes with gradient fill to PDF does not seem to work.

Steps to reproduce:
1) Create a blank presentation; insert a single shape to the slide
2) Right-click the shape - Area
3) Select "Gradient"; Type "Radial"; Increment "Automatic"; Center X/Y: 50% for both; From color "Dark Blue 1"; To color "Dark Blue 3" (other colors show the same behavior)
4) Click OK; notice that the gradient will look fine in Impress
5) Export to PDF; open the PDF file and notice that the gradient was not exported correctly

See attached image comparing what I see in Impress and what I get as the PDF output.
