Description antistress 2022-08-27 12:04:16 UTC
Description:
Hi, when starting deb package of LibO 7.4.0.3, splash screen appears, remains solid, shows progress bar, then is replaced by LibreOffice GUI which makes sens for user.

But when I start Flatpak of LibO 7.4.0.3, splash screen disappears as soon that it appears, in the same (but inverted : zoom out) move, then nothing is shown until LibO GUI shows up. Which is weird from a user point of view since zooming out mean generally closing the application, not starting it. Which means that the message is contradictory and the user feels uncomfortable with that message.

Steps to Reproduce:
Start Flatpak LibO Writer, close it.
Start deb LibO Writer, close it.
Compare the visual experience

Actual Results:
Splash screen experience with Flatpak LibO Writer doesn't make sense

Expected Results:
Splash screen experience with Flatpak LibO Writer should reproduce Splash screen experience with deb libO Writer

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
Bug occurs with Flatpak version no matter hardware acceleration is set ON or OFF

@antistress:

1 What is your Linux distro and what is your desktop environment (GNOME, KDE, ...)?

2 For your non-flatpak version of LibreOffice, what is the "Help - About LibreOffice - Version Information" data (there's a copy button next to it)?

Sorry, I'm running Debian Testing with GNOME 42.4 in Wayland mode

LibreOffice 1:7.4.0~rc3-1+b1

I'm running the LibreOffice deb package at this moment : I installed it for the sake of testing and writing this report and uninstalled it afterwards

Tell me if you want me to re-install the deb version

I was mostly interested in its "VCL:" line, but if you are running GNOME that would likely have been "gtk3" (i.e., same as for the flatpak version).

I was asking all that because I had no idea what you were referring to with that zooming in and out of the splash screen window, and assumed that it was something specific to some desktop environment.

I'm running a rather similar setup here (Fedora 36, GNOME 42.4 on Wayland), and when I start the LO flatpak the splash screen appears (without any noticeable animation, "zoom in" or otherwise), stays for a moment, disappears (again, without any noticeable animation), and after a moment the main LO window appears. I have a hard time imagining the issue you are experiencing.
