Description: I have a short line of text, Arial, 12pt. The first few words in the line are plain text. They are followed by a few more words that are italicized. I copy the line from a row in a table in document 1 and paste it into a row in a table in document 2. Before I paste it, I click the destination row to select it and then click Bold in the toolbar, intending that the line appear with the original formatting plus that Bold formatting. And that works fine in release 7.3. Now in 7.4.0.3 (x64) what happens is that the destination row inherits all of the original formatting and ignores my selection of the Bold formatting, in fact the Bold is deselected from the toolbar and Italics is selected, I assume because the pasted line ends with a few italicized words. I don't know if you consider this a bug or not but I'm a creature of habit and this is a departure from how Writer has worked for me since forever. Steps to Reproduce: 1.Make a line of text like this but with the last 3 or 4 words italicized. 2.Copy it. 3.Paste it into a row in a Writer table after selecting (clicking) that row in the table and selecting Bold on the formatting toolbar. Actual Results: After pasting, note that the pasted line is not formatted Bold and is otherwise unchanged from what you copied. Also note that the toolbar now shows that Bold is not selected and Italics is selected (which it wasn't). Expected Results: The pasted line should have been formatted Bold and otherwise unchanged, i.e., plain text followed by italicized text. Software should have behaved as it did in 7.3 and prior versions, IMO. Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No Additional Info: Version: 7.4.0.3 (x64) / LibreOffice Community Build ID: f85e47c08ddd19c015c0114a68350214f7066f5a CPU threads: 12; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 22000; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win Locale: en-US (en_US); UI: en-US Calc: threaded
I confirm the described behaviour with Version: 7.4.1.2 (x64) / LibreOffice Community Build ID: 3c58a8f3a960df8bc8fd77b461821e42c061c5f0 CPU threads: 4; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 19044; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win Locale: de-DE (de_DE); UI: en-GB Calc: CL but for me it sounds like a bug, that has been fixed. It's the normal behaviour of every text, that you copy and paste (doesn't matter, if source text is from another document, part of a table or not). If you want to retain actual (bold) formatting you have to insert text as unformatted text. => RESOLVED NOTABUG
