Description ilveropera 2022-09-08 13:58:51 UTC
in WRITER the italian corrector knows e’ (e with accent) is wrong and it corrects it with "è" but leave the accent so after the correction it reaming è’ (the same ciò’, perché’ ecc) and so you need to recorrect!

Sorry, you're right it's indeed 7.3.6.

Could you try to apply https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/FirstSteps#Corrupted_user_profile ? (just to be sure it's not LO profile related).

I don't understand well the question: if the the is about *e'* or *perche'* are not autocorrected in *è* and *perché* is why the user is using a non-Italian layout keyboard.

If using an Italian keyboard, the problem is not present because there are the the keys for *è*, *é* or *ò*, etc. There are several words that the program autocorrects, while others should be setup by the user him/herself.

The user should use instead an autocorrect option, instructing the program to *transform* the malformed word *perche'* in *perché*, using the «Autocorrect > Autocorrect» options in the menu «Tools» (tab Replace), and considering that writing *perche'* he/she is using single quote char, which represents an elision, and not an accent (from Italian language POV).

the fact is that if you write "perche'" or some accented word using "'" instead of the correcrt ascii character [i'm doing it since in the computer science class they said some old program didn't recognize characters like òéèà...] LibreOffice don't see the "'" immediately after and correct the words leaving the "'".

pero' --corrected baceme-- però'
perche' -- corrected became-- perché'
cosi' --even don't recognise the error because "cosi" is another italian word but for sure I wanted to write "così"

And I was suggesting to resolve this little problem (recognise that there is a "'" after a word and act accordingly) for everyone and not that every people that use italian dictionary make this rules..

No, the autocorrection still doesn't remove the ' after correcting..

So, if I write "perche'" it shows the error, I right click and choose the right form "perché" but in the file remains "perché'"

Hi All

the only workaround I can indicate, at the moment, is to add

perche' in the "Sostituisci" field and perché in the Con "field" (Correzione automatica > Sostituisci tab), *while desactivating* the "Virgolette singole > Sostituisci" checkbox (in the Opzioni localizzate tab)

This workaround has been checked with Libo 7.6 and 24.2, and it works with all occurrences (pero', macche', etc.)

I add Marina Latini in order to see if there's a technical solution to the issue.

Hi

I think it cannot be solved with a simple perche' = perché, because the character *'*' involved can also be also be used as closing simple quote (example: "non dire 'benchè' ma 'perchè', ok?")
So, the rationale is to have the character *unlinked* by the previous word.
The only workaround is, imho, to setup manually and personally the autocorrection feature with the user's needs.
The workaround works also in LibreOffice 24.2 (personally tested)

Isn't this the same issue as Bug 114040?
