Description amab8901 2022-09-14 03:33:24 UTC
Description:
I have an error message displaying in my Libreoffice Writer:
`Missing Hyphenation Data: Please install the hyphenation package for locale “en-US”.`

When I click "learn more", it takes me to this page:
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Language/Support

If I do ctrl+F on `en-us`, I find this link on the page:
`Spell-check dictionaries, hyphenation, thesaurus for en-US, en-CA, en-GB`

When I click the link, it takes me to this page:
https://extensions.libreoffice.org/en/extensions/show/american-british-canadian-spelling-hyphen-thesaurus-dictionaries

That page says "page not found". I would really appreciate it if you solved this so that I won't get this error in my LibreOffice Writer

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Install libreoffice-fresh on archlinux by typing `sudo pacman -S libreoffice-fresh`
2.open Libreoffice Writer
3.Write `Hey, how are you doing man? I’m riding a nice car over here while you’re reading this text.`
4. Font of the text in step 3: `Default Paragraph Style`, `Liberation Serif`, 12pt
5. Save as `Word 2007-365 (.docx)`
6. Close the file and open it again
7. See error message on top: `Missing Hyphenation Data: Please install the hyphenation package for locale “en-US”.`
8. Click "Learn More"
9. ctrl+F: "en-us"
10. click: `Spell-check dictionaries, hyphenation, thesaurus for en-US, en-CA, en-GB`
11. See "page not found"

Actual Results:
"Page not found", and error message still persists in my Libreoffice Writer

Expected Results:
I expected to find a package that I can download and install to solve the error message in my Libreoffice Writer, on my Archlinux computer

As you are on Linux, install the Hunspell English dictionaries of your distribution, for example the hunspell-en package. Alternatively you can download and install the LibreOffice English dictionaries extension from https://extensions.libreoffice.org/en/extensions/show/english-dictionaries also listed in the wiki.

The other wiki link is simply outdated (now removed).

Ah sorry, though belonging to Hunspell, hyphenation rules may be separate packages, e.g. hyphen-en

thanks! Now it works. Maybe you can let the page behind "Read More" button lead to `hyphen-en` package? Would be helpful for future users
