Description: I occasionally use a soft hyphen if I want a word to hyphenate if needed, but not display if hyphenation is not needed. The hyphen appears in the Writer document, but will not print or export to PDF. It also does not appear in the print preview. Insert a soft hyphen (U+00AD) within a word that is at the beginning of a line, where the first part of the word and the hyphen will fit on the previous line. Hyphen appears when word is hyphenated. 2. Choose Print. Hyphen will not appear in Print preview, not will it print. 3. Export to PDF, no options selected, and PDF will not contain the hyphen.
