Description Jon 2022-10-06 12:26:25 UTC
Description:
Using a Chromebook, If I copy text from a gmail when I paste the text into Write it includes and DISPLAYS all style information making the text essentially unuseable.
gmail is accessed through the Chrome Browser and Libre Office Write is run in a Linux environment.
If I copy "Tracy" from the email and then paste the text it displays
<span style="color: rgb(34, 34, 34); font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small; font-style: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-weight: 400; letter-spacing: normal; orphans: 2; text-align: start; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); text-decoration-thickness: initial; text-decoration-style: initial; text-decoration-color: initial; display: inline !important; float: none;">Tracey</span>

The style information is, as one would expect, repeated on each carriage return.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Using Chrome access gmail account, open an email and select and copy some simple text. I have copied "Tracey"
2.Switch to Libre Office Writer (in Linux) and paste copied text to new document
3.

Actual Results:
<span style="color: rgb(34, 34, 34); font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small; font-style: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-weight: 400; letter-spacing: normal; orphans: 2; text-align: start; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); text-decoration-thickness: initial; text-decoration-style: initial; text-decoration-color: initial; display: inline !important; float: none;">Tracey</span>

Expected Results:
Tracey

Jon, thank you for reporting the bug. It seems you're using an old version of LibreOffice. Could you please try to reproduce it with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/libreoffice-fresh/ ? I have set the bug's status to 'NEEDINFO'. Please change it back to 'UNCONFIRMED' if the bug is still present in the latest version. Change to RESOLVED WORKSFORME, if the problem went away.

Sorry for delay in responding, took me a while to find the install info, that works on this HP chromebook.

Anyway all sorted and now working as expected.

Have upgraded to
Libre Office ver 7.4.2.3
Build https://git.libreoffice.org/core/+log/382eef1f22670f7f4118c8c2dd222ec7ad009daf

Many thanks
