Description scar 2022-10-08 18:52:35 UTC
Description:
"Emoji" toolbar button available in 'Assigned Commands' but, when activated, does not appear in toolbar.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Right-click on the toolbar and select 'Customize Toolbar'. Customize window opens on Toolbars tab. On the right side of the window, under "Assigned Commands" is an option to enable "Emoji" button.
2. Select (put checkmark in) "Emoji" option.
3. Push OK button.

Actual Results:
Emoji button does not appear in toolbar.

Expected Results:
Emoji button appears (after Symbol button, for example).

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

OpenGL enabled: Yes

Additional Info:
Also if I happen to remove Emoji button from the "Assigned Commands" by clicking the Left Arrow button, the command is lost and doesn't even appear in the list of "Available Commands". Can get it to reappear in the Assigned Commands by Defaults or Reset button.

Workaround is to use the Symbol button then click More Characters button and pick the Noto Color Emoji (or other) font.

The Emoji picker widget is an experimental feature so requires the Tools -> Options -> Advanced 'Enable experimental features (may be unstable' check box be set active.

However, the emoji.json feature has been removed for the 7.5 branch of current master as unsupported and unnecessary as the os/DE provide suitable Emoji selection, see bug 151197
