Description: In dark mode, my system default, the icons don't change and are displayed using black and dark gray, which makes the buttons invisible when on the same gray background. Are there dark mode icons which should be used instead? Steps to Reproduce: Set dark mode theme on desktop. Open a LibreOffice application. Actual Results: Light mode icons with dark aspects/elements on a dark background. (I will attach a screenshot so you can see rather than describe it badly.) Expected Results: Dark mode icons with light aspects/elements, visible on a dark background. What did you choose in menu Tools > Options > LibreOffice > View -> Theme ? You should try "Sifr (SVG + dark)" or "Breeze (dark)". If these themes are not available, you should look in your package manager to install the convenient package. Status has been set to NEEDINFO, please set it back to UNCONFIRMED once requested information has been provided. Best regards. JBF

JBF I didn't change the theme from default from installation. I assumed it would see the dark mode and pick an appropriate theme. If I set my dark theme to automatic, would LibreOffice follow the dark/light changes or would I need manually setting at sunset and sunrise? Not sure if there is a 'Theme' option, but I have attached a screenshot. They are all set to 'Automatic' but it doesn't seem to be working :/

I have attached a screenshot. How would I get these icon themes and do you have a picture of them? Icon/graphic design really has gone downhill in recent years, IMHO. BTW, Yaru just looks awful and hurts my eyes. I can't believe that's an official theme.
Created attachment 183087 [details] Icon style/theme list #1 I had to take a couple of screenshots as the 'Compact' view is mysteriously exactly the same size as the 'Normal' view, pmsl. The unwieldy display of the breathtaking 6 icon themes won't all fit on my screen.

I am starting to think that the answer, as with many FOSS projects, isn't as simple and straightforward as it should be. :/ Should I reconfigure my desktop theme in order to make LibreOffice's graphical UI usable? White backgrounds seem to be painful when they're projected at your face using high intensity LEDs. 11 out of the 17 Icon extensions appear to be Yaru so there's not much choice. Are you able to point me in the right direction to create an icon pack myself?
It's apparently impossible to remove an icon theme. No Uninstall/Remove button PMSL So, managing the UI icon theme, so as to have a visible and usable interface, seems to present some people with an insurmountable challenge.
OK, so I've managed to get Breeze (Dark) installed from my package manager (NOT LibreOffice's own Extension installer, which I find highly irregular and inconsistent) and enabled it... Eurgh. All the icons seem to be visible now - I will check. Although, the theme design itself leaves a lot to be appreciated. It's ugly, but at least it's more usable... A common trade-off with FOSS. Thank you for the information. The fact that we have to use our OS package managers to install LibreOffice-specific icons and NOT LO's own icon/theme installer is inconsistent and worrying - ie somebody, somewhere, isn't doing the best they could. Not knowing this leads to confusion. Things NEED to be more consistent and make sense to stop people getting frustrated by silly little problems that should really be a no-brainer (...after how many years, now?) Too many cooks? Still, the fact that LibreOffice can't switch between light/dark mode icons (as is the norm as has been for at least 5 years now) is just plain bad... Not to sound accusative, but is this REALLY the best LO devs can do for icon/interface accessibility?
Thank you for the feedback. Closing as WorksForMe. Best regards. JBF
