Description: LibreOffice Writer ends XFCE Session when I type the word in Spanish "Protejase". either with accent or not, say, "Protejase" and "Protéjase" Steps to Reproduce: 1. start a new file or re-edit the recovered file 2. insert a small QR image 2.1 Save 3. write a few words 3.1 Save 4. write the word in Spanish "Protejase". either with accent or not, say, "Protejase" and "Protéjase" 5. Save Actual Results: L.O. W. shows a black screen and the cursor blinking on upper left corner and after a few seconds appears the login screen of Ubuntu 22.10 Expected Results: to work well Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: Yes Additional Info: I have tried several variants, i.e. writing "protect" in English, writing other words and it continues OK, but when I type "protejase" in Spanish and Save, L.O.W. hangs after the login screen I have to reopen all programs I had opened before and when opening L.O.W. it shows me the Recover Screen. it recovered all before putting "protejase" either with accent or not. Created attachment 183410 [details] test case this is the film of the bug itself
I found writing "protejase" on 12pt Liberation Sans Seriff, and saving does good, always on the 1st page. but if I write on 60 pt Liberation Sans Seriff it hangs if I write on 60 pt Liberation Sans Seriff on the following pages it happens nothing does good. other writing on 60 pt Liberation Sans Seriff it's OK.
I found that writing on 54 pt on Liberation Sans Seriff does good, it doesn't hang.
At this point I guess it's not a bug, but a screen/resolution or something like that, the strange thing is that happens with the word Protejase and not others... my screen resolution: xrandr -q Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1280 x 800, maximum 8192 x 8192 LVDS-1 connected primary 1280x800+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 261mm x 163mm 1280x800 60.16*+ 59.99 59.97 59.81 59.91 lshw -short AVISO: debería ejecutar este programa como superusuario. ruta H/W Dispositivo Clase Descripción ======================================================= system Computer /0 bus Motherboard /0/0 memory 8GiB Memoria de sistema /0/1 processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i5 CPU M 540 /0/100 bridge Core Processor DRAM Controller /0/100/2 /dev/fb0 display Core Processor Integrated Graphics Co /0/100/16 communication 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset HECI Con /0/100/19 enp0s25 network 82577LM Gigabit Network Connection /0/100/1a bus 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset USB2 Enh /0/100/1b card0 multimedia 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset High Def /0/100/1b/0 input10 input HDA Intel MID Mic /0/100/1b/1 input11 input HDA Intel MID Dock Mic /0/100/1b/2 input12 input HDA Intel MID Dock Headphone /0/100/1b/3 input13 input HDA Intel MID Headphone /0/100/1b/4 input14 input HDA Intel MID HDMI/DP,pcm=3 /0/100/1c bridge 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset PCI Expr /0/100/1c.3 bridge 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset PCI Expr /0/100/1c.4 bridge 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset PCI Expr /0/100/1c.4/0 wlp2s0 network Centrino Ultimate-N 6300 /0/100/1d bus 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset USB2 Enh /0/100/1e bridge 82801 Mobile PCI Bridge /0/100/1f bridge QM57 Chipset LPC Interface Controller /0/100/1f/0 system PnP device PNP0c01 /0/100/1f/1 system PnP device PNP0c02 /0/100/1f/2 system PnP device PNP0b00 /0/100/1f/3 input PnP device PNP0303 /0/100/1f/4 generic PnP device LEN0018 /0/100/1f/5 generic PnP device SMO1200 /0/100/1f.2 storage 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset 6 port S /0/100/1f.3 bus 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset SMBus Co /0/100/1f.6 generic 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset Thermal /0/101 bridge Core Processor QuickPath Architecture /0/102 bridge Core Processor QuickPath Architecture /0/103 bridge Core Processor QPI Link 0 /0/104 bridge 1st Generation Core i3/5/7 Processor /0/105 bridge 1st Generation Core i3/5/7 Processor /0/106 bridge 1st Generation Core i3/5/7 Processor /1 input0 input Lid Switch /2 input1 input Sleep Button /3 input2 input Power Button /4 input3 input AT Translated Set 2 keyboard /5 input5 input SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad /6 input6 input TPPS/2 IBM TrackPoint /7 input7 input Video Bus /8 input8 input ThinkPad Extra Buttons /9 input9 input Integrated Camera: Integrated C AVISO: la salida puede ser incompleta o imprecisa, debería ejecutar este programa como superusuario. lspci 00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation Core Processor DRAM Controller (rev 02) 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Core Processor Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 02) 00:16.0 Communication controller: Intel Corporation 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset HECI Controller (rev 06) 00:19.0 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation 82577LM Gigabit Network Connection (rev 06) 00:1a.0 USB controller: Intel Corporation 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset USB2 Enhanced Host Controller (rev 06) 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset High Definition Audio (rev 06) 00:1c.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset PCI Express Root Port 1 (rev 06) 00:1c.3 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset PCI Express Root Port 4 (rev 06) 00:1c.4 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset PCI Express Root Port 5 (rev 06) 00:1d.0 USB controller: Intel Corporation 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset USB2 Enhanced Host Controller (rev 06) 00:1e.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801 Mobile PCI Bridge (rev a6) 00:1f.0 ISA bridge: Intel Corporation QM57 Chipset LPC Interface Controller (rev 06) 00:1f.2 SATA controller: Intel Corporation 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset 6 port SATA AHCI Controller (rev 06) 00:1f.3 SMBus: Intel Corporation 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset SMBus Controller (rev 06) 00:1f.6 Signal processing controller: Intel Corporation 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset Thermal Subsystem (rev 06) 02:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation Centrino Ultimate-N 6300 (rev 35) ff:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation Core Processor QuickPath Architecture Generic Non-core Registers (rev 02) ff:00.1 Host bridge: Intel Corporation Core Processor QuickPath Architecture System Address Decoder (rev 02) ff:02.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation Core Processor QPI Link 0 (rev 02) ff:02.1 Host bridge: Intel Corporation 1st Generation Core i3/5/7 Processor QPI Physical 0 (rev 02) ff:02.2 Host bridge: Intel Corporation 1st Generation Core i3/5/7 Processor Reserved (rev 02) ff:02.3 Host bridge: Intel Corporation 1st Generation Core i3/5/7 Processor Reserved (rev 02) # dmidecode 3.4 Getting SMBIOS data from sysfs. Caolan: could you please take a look at this? I realize how much of a heizenbug this is, but it seems to be a recurring problem, specific to Linux. One closed bug mentioning crashing session is added to See Also; there are mentions at https://ask.libreoffice.org/t/lubuntu-16-04-64-bit-libreoffice-5-crashes-desktop-session/19699 https://ask.libreoffice.org/t/libreoffice-calc-crashes-login-session/16729 https://ask.libreoffice.org/t/cursor-movement-on-recent-files-crashes-my-session/51611 https://ask.libreoffice.org/t/impress-crashes-makes-xubuntu-session-close-when-loading-previously-made-presentation/77436 https://ask.libreoffice.org/t/session-crashes-when-moving-cursor/54424 https://forumooo.ru/index.php?topic=9472 This one seems to have the best chances to provide a real reproducer :)
a) To try and rule some thing out, if you turn off spell checking, (tools, automatic spell checking), does it still happen? b) What's the output of: free -h c) Was there any sort of automatic crash reporting prompt from Ubuntu itself, I don't see anything like that in the video, but if there was then there might be some backtrace recorded somewhere to give a hint.

I turned off spell cheking and still occurs b: free -h total used free shared buff/cache available Memoria: 7,6Gi 2,7Gi 2,1Gi 79Mi 2,7Gi 4,5Gi Swap: 10Gi 0B 10Gi c: Now UNUNTU Says before hanging: {FAILED} Failed to start process error reports when automatic reporting is enabled I attach a video showing that all. BTW I realized that this happens when font type is over 60 pt on some fonts with any words.

I haven't any good ideas as to why this is happening for you and not for me. I think we can rule out something specific to the Spanish spellchecker if it happens with that turned off, and there is swap so that looks irrelevant too. Its a real shame that the system crash reporting isn't working. We can experiment a bit more to see if we can rule out something to do with thumbnail creation. tools, options, LibreOffice, Advanced, "Open Expert Configuration", type GenerateThumbnail and press "Search". There should then be a line that says: Document, GenerateThumbnail, boolean, true double click on that line to toggle "true" to "false" do the same with "RecentDocsThumbnail", type that in and press search and toggle it to false as well click ok (and ok on the options dialog) now try again and see if it still crashes or not.

Well, turning that option to False didn`t crash at all :-) even risen to 72 pt the font. I try to put them back to True and crashed again.
oh, very interesting. Can you try with just one of them toggled off and see which one needs to be on to make it crash. Is there hidpi display scaling enabled?, and is so at what scaling percentage?

(In reply to Legar from comment #15) > I don't have a hidpi variable, I attach in the following message what > variables are for "dpi" Caolán was asking if you had a display scaling factor in your Xfce settings. Look for "display" in your settings, and in that dialog the "scale" option. Please also update to 7.4.6.2 to see if the issue remains.

From the ask.libreoffice links Mike shared, this one sounds particularly similar in that it's on XFCE and linked to font size: https://ask.libreoffice.org/t/impress-crashes-makes-xubuntu-session-close-when-loading-previously-made-presentation/77436/26?u=stragu Luis, are you also able o reproduce the issue in other components, like Impress?
