Description: LibreOffice's installation wizard window cannot currently maximized. Installation options are not flexible / searchable. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Custom setup installation of LibreOffice 7.4.2.3 2. Select multiple dictionaries under the optional components. 3. Scroll down through the list of dictionaries again and again, even though the monitor is larger than the wizard window. Actual Results: 1. Having to scroll down a long list of installation options Expected Results: 1. Please make the window maximize-able so that users have to scroll less. 2. Please make dictionaries and other installation options searchable, e.g., type a language name to get a list of dictionaries or other installation options having that as a substring. Thank you for the suggestion. Design/UX team, what do you think? Does the recent Outreachy work by Rachael change anything in that regard? https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/c/core/+/146843
Created attachment 190255 [details] Screenshot We speak about the custom installation and optional components. If I click/select "Dictionaries" and type "ger" the node "German" (on Dictionaries) becomes selected. Typing "ger" again goes to the next occurrence, which is the localization. The installer is kind of a standard on Windows, surely not as comfortable as Microsoft packs its software. But I see no room for improvements since we rely on this tool.
Jussi, what do you think?
For comparison, the macOS installer is not configurable at all. You drag it to apps folder and that's it. I'd recommend the same for Windows. No options. No configurability. Just click and go. Any time spent on customising the installer is effort better spent elsewhere.
If you stick to the default it's just clicking trough four steps. The question was rather if we can make the installer resizable, not that I advocate for this.
See few benefits to attempting to provide CSD for the installation widget on Windows to support maximize or drag resize. As noted a default install has minimal user interaction, while a Custom installation on Windows already provides effective UI (for search & selection) with the MSI packaging defaults. Likewise, use of the MSI Installation Wizard defaults supports appwiz.cpl method to 'Modify' or 'Repair' an installation to adjust a custom installation. Our current implementation is suitable to task. IMHO => WF
So let's resolve WF. Annajiat, feel free to reopen with further arguments.
