when saving document as .docx or .doc Zotero references are reverted to text.
Zotero is a reference/bibliography tool, free and opensource.
It works well as long as the document is kept in .odt.
As soon as the document is saved to .docx or .doc, the Zotero references are changed to regular text and can no longer be edited by Zotero.

And to add to this a 2nd Zotero issue with LibreOffice:

When I cut and paste references in LibreOffice, the reference is pasted correctly. However, when I COPY-paste a reference, the reference is not pasted correctly, but only as regular text. It would be very handy if copying of references was possible.

Also described here where this was indicated to be a LibreOffice limitation:

In the forum thread you linked, it is said

"Your first error report is not appropriate for LibreOffice. The .docx format does not support .odt ReferenceMarks, which Zotero uses to store citations. There is nothing LibreOffice can or should do there. As for your second comment there, you should always create separate reports for different bugs on bugtrackers. Bugtrackers are only meant to track one issue at a time."

There is already a report for your second issue, so I will close as duplicate.
