I wanted to update you on some issues that have arisen with the implementation The Noto Serif Ahom font, recently created by Google, does not implement correctly in Libre Office. There are six implementation problems: Listing of problems: i) The Ahom Vowel SIGN I (U+11722) is shifted too far to the right from the initial consonant ii) The Ahom Vowel SIGN I (U+11722) is ‘crashing into’ the final consonant to its left iii) The Ahom Vowel SIGN II (U+11723) is shifted too far to the right from the initial consonant iv) The Ahom Vowel SIGN AI (U+11729) is shifted too far to the right from the initial consonant v) The Ahom Vowel SIGN AW (U+11727) is shifted too far to the right from the initial consonant vi) The ‘wrap’, AHOM CONSONANT SIGN MEDIAL RA (U+1171E) is not kerned correctly with the consonants and is too far to the left and is crashing into the right side of the consonant These problems do not arise in some other applications on my laptop, so it appears that Libre Office is telling the font to implement in ways different from the way it was designed. To help explain this, what I have done is the following i) Create (in Libre Office) an original piece of text Ahom Font full test 20220706_ShoArtVersion.odt ii) Copy this text into six different applications and then take screen shots of how it appears, and then save that as .docx and .pdf: Testing the Ahom font in different applications - 20221107 (.docx and .pdf) iii) Put together a matrix comparing the 10 'problems' or ‘issues’ in different applications that I have identified: Matrix listing the ‘problems’ with rendering the Noto Serif Ahom font in different applications.docx It may be that this 'bugzilla' will not allow me to upload more than one document, so I've put in the .pdf showing the implementation problems. I hope I have given sufficient information. Dr. Stephen Morey moreystephen@hotmail.com
I'm sorry I am finding it difficult to use this particular application to explain the problems. I want to try and add several other documents but I'm not sure I can
