Description: Hi. For the last days I was struggling with Impress generating broken pdf files for a project I'm working on. Attempting to open said pdf files Acrobat Reader gives me an error: "There was an error processing a page. There was a problem reading this document (109)." This error is shown again for each page of the generated pdf. I'll try to attach such a broken pdf file to the report after writing this text. Microsoft edge can 'successfully' open those pdf files but all images I included are missing. I tried every solution I could find on the internet for the Acrobat reader error message (update windows runtime libraries, reinstall Acrobat Reader, reinstall LibreOffice, every conceivable combination of pdf export options in Impress) but to no avail. But I think today I tracked down the problem. The picture files I used were generated by Inkscape, exported as pdf file and included into Impress by using the Insert -> Image... command. In Incscapes export options the pdf file format were set to PDF 1.5 and those files can be opened without any problem (I'll attach one of those as well). If I remove all those PDF 1.5 images from the Impress file and instead use ones that I generated by Inkscape with PDF 1.4 format then the pdf file generated by Impress works fine. A single PDF 1.5 picture anywhere in the *.odp file is enough that AcrobatReader shows an error on every page. Steps to Reproduce: 1.Generate any graphic with Inkscape and export is as PDF 1.5 (or use the file I'll attach) 2.Use Insert -> Image... to use the graphic in the Impress .odp file. 3.Use File -> Export As... -> Export as PDF... to export the file as pdf. Use any export settings, I did not find any that solve the problem. 4.Try to open the file in Acrobat Reader or in Microsoft Edge. Actual Results: Acrobat Reader will show a completely broken file while Edge displays everything except the graphic. Expected Results: The exported PDF file opens without error in both programs and displays the inserted graphic. Can you attach the Impress file, that produces the bad PDF.
Created attachment 183846 [details] Impress .odp file I used for the attached broken pdf example Sure, I'll attach the file I used to generate the broken example pdf file. This project file itself is pretty old but the same problem happened to me even if I open a fresh project.
Created attachment 183864 [details] PDF generated con 7.4.3 Repro with 7.3.7.2. (End of line) But works fine for me with 7.4.3.2, please see attached file.
I can confirm that the file you attached works for me as well. I tried updating to version 7.4.3.2 and then the export created an intact file on my PC as well. I proceeded to de-install libre office and re-install version 7.3.7.2 which I was using previously and again the issue arose. Seems to me that the problem exists in the recommended stable version but was already fixed for the most recent versions. As I now know a workaround (install newest version) this case can be closed from my point of view. Thanks for the help!
