Description Robert Ombuzal 2022-12-04 17:46:00 UTC
Description:
I have two pages and the second page has just one protected+hidden cell.
The cell is only visible on screen, not in the PrintOut/Preview.
When i look at PrintPreview or actually print it i get empty pages.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. create a new document
2. enter text in a cell on page 2
3. activate cell protection, do not print

Actual Results:
Preview/PrintOut prints an empty page 2

Expected Results:
Page 2 is empty so should not be printed at all

Reproducible: Always

Please attach a sample file, I think there is a other way to test what happens.

Hidden a cell on Page TWO

Hidden a cell on Page TWO, Print Preview prints two pages.

With your sample file, I can only view one page, on Print preview/Print.
Version: 7.4.4.2 (x64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 85569322deea74ec9134968a29af2df5663baa21
CPU threads: 4; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 19045; UI render: Skia/Vulkan; VCL: win
Locale: es-ES (es_ES); UI: en-US Calc: CL

And the 'Menu/Tools/Options/LibreOffice Calc/Print - Pages - Suppress output of empty pages' doesn't change the behavior.
Comment 4 Robert Großkopf 2023-01-13 15:22:38 UTC
Document has set the "Page TWO" on the first page in the attached document. So I couldn't see a second page. If I copy and paste "Page TWO" to the second page (starts here with row 54 (A 54), put it to row 57 (A 57) I could reproduce the bug: Second empty page will be shown.
Suppressing to print empty pages is set by default and doesn't change the behavior.

Bug appears here with LO 7.4.4.2, also LO 7.5.0.1. It will also appear in every LO 7-version, also tested with LO 6.4.7.2

Tested with OpenSUSE 15.3 64bit rpm Linux.

But looks to me, that the issue it's with the option
Menu/Tools/Options/LibreOffice Calc/Print - Pages - Suppress output of empty pages
not working properly when enabled, and hidden cells makes a blank page.

Adding a third page with text a deleting 'Page TWO' text, don't show page two.

First page with normal cell, second page empty (hidden cell), third page with normal cell

There will appear 3 pages here - also the empty page. But the printer is set in the options to suppress empty pages.
Comment 7 Robert Großkopf 2023-01-13 17:41:55 UTC
If I remove the hidden cell the page won't be shown, if suppressing empty pages will be enabled. So hidden cells seems to be like content on the page for printing - but it shouldn't, because it isn't visible.

Dear Robert Ombuzal,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword
