Description Holger Jakobs 2022-12-05 16:58:57 UTC
Description:
I normally use 3 screens, sharing one of them in a video conference. When I start presenting, it occurs that the controlling interface of Libreoffice is full screen on screen one and the presentation itself on screen two, while I am sharing screen three.

Therefore I would like to have the controlling interface enhanced so that switching between all existing screens becomes possible.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Connect two external monitors to your notebook
2. Start Impress
3. Start presenting mode

Now try to get the presentation on the screen which is not occupied.

Actual Results:
No way to move the presentation from one screen to another. Only switching between controls an presentation is possible - not to screen three.

Expected Results:
There should be a way of switching between all existing monitors.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

Additional Info:
There should be a way of switching between all existing monitors.

I believe this might be solved by the fix for Bug 33495, which will be available in version 7.5 (you can test the feature now: https://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/daily/master/current.html )

If the presenter console is windowed (and therefore can be moved to any screen), and you start the presentation in the screen you are sharing, wouldn't that cover your needs?

I just tried the version mentioned and cannot find any change to the situation.

What I need is a switch to change physical displays - not between two, but between all (currently three) monitors.

Sounds fair. Having a way to organise where the presenter console and the presentation are when the slideshow has already started seems like a good enhancement. We have Slide Show > Slide Show settings, but it only allows to specify where the Presentation goes, and many users might not know straight away which number corresponds to which display. There could be an easier way to freely reorganise them both at once after starting the presentation.

Related bug report is Bug 151634, describing some issues with main display and using the switcher with 3 displays.

Switching the presentation display from the console sounds like a nice plan. Does not need to be a dropdown, IMO, but just iterating over the connected devices would be sufficient.

Gabor, since you did some work around the presenter console, what do you think?

This request sounds like a duplicate of bug 151634.

I'd keep the two separate:
- This one for an enhancement, adding a control in the console
- Bug 151634 for fixing the buggy behaviour in the slide show settings.

Admittedly, the same new interface could be user for both, and fix both bugs in one go.
