Description ell1e 2022-12-10 07:28:43 UTC
Description:
Style edit windows (page style, paragraph style, ...) are too large, making writer unusable on smaller laptops. See attached image, the confirm/cancel buttons are inaccessible. An easy solution would for example be to simply add scrollbars.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Use a slightly smaller portable laptop
2. Open any of the edit paragraph style or edit page style etc dialogs

Actual Results:
Dialog doesn't fit and is therefore unusable, see attached screenshot

Expected Results:
Dialog has scrollbars or some other mechanism to properly fit

Reproducible: Always

Hi ell1e

Do you use a scaling factor in your display settings? And what is your screen resolution?
Comment 3 ell1e 2022-12-10 17:00:40 UTC
I do because I sit further away from my laptop, 125% at 1368x768. The main window works fine so it's a little silly these dialogs are suddenly the problem when scrollbars exist. This would also help on mobile (Librem 5, PinePhone) where the main UI similarly fits surprisingly well but most dialogs don't work. While scrollbars aren't as good as a responsive UI, they for sure beat not being able to use the dialog at all.

This might actually be fixed in 7.4 and beyond, given it could be potentially marked as a duplicate of the more suitable bug 139395.

ell1e, could you please install version 7.4.3 and tell us if that fixes the issue you describe for both dialogs?
