Created attachment 184277 [details] Impress slide with animation, showing extraneous letter W on arrow. Impress 7.2.5.2 x64: EDITING slides with animation. The Animation dialog has multiple frustrating issues: o the Animation list box is way too short. I often have 6 or 7 animations! o the Effect list box is way too short. It takes too long to find an effect -- such as Wipe, by far my most common animation. Needs a recently-used sub-list. o You'd think typing W would scroll down to Wedge, Wheel, Wipe -- but no! Doing so attaches the W to the animated arrow on the slide! Can't get rid of it. This issue is the focus of this bug report. o it's too easy to select more than one item in the list, clobbering an existing animation with the attributes of the current one. o the shortcut key no longer exists. Please restore version 4 animation!

This issue is the focus of this bug report. It seems you were focused on the presentation canvas instead of the effect list. If this is not the case, please provide reproducible steps.
