... and I don't see anything unusual. Set its page style to use A4, and the thumbnail text will get smaller (even less readable). Set it to A6, and it will be larger.

A clear screenshot with comparison, along with the "normal" sample to compare (i.e., which produces what you consider OK), is needed.

I have to compare with older versions to double check

It looks like you have a HiDPI screen. I wonder if it somehow makes this more pronounced when you evaluate?

I don't reproduce something specific to page size either. See attached screenshot, I also tried switching to A4 while increasing the font size and margins to have a similar layout.

Version: 24.2.2.2 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community

I think the real issue is we need higher resolution thumbnails so we can cater for scaled up / hiDPI displays (see bug 155200), which requires getting them out of registrymodifications.xcu (see bug 99716).

What I see when default text to both documents, but in A4/A5 format.

This is not a bug. Attachment 184368 [details] from comment 3 may seem blurry - especially when the screenshot is shown on a non-Hi-DPI screen, with all elements enlarged. But in fact, it is (expected to be) shown with all UI elements (icons, labels, and the thumbnails) having proper visible size - basically, same physical size on screen as the thumbnails on attachment 198442 [details]. And is scaled down accordingly, they look ~same; the thumbnails are not intended to ensure readable text - their purpose is not recovery of lost data, but just providing an idea what the document (roughly) looks like.

Increasing thumbnail resolution for different display resolution looks overkill in all aspects, even when thumbnails will be moved from the registrymodifications.
