Description Alberto Grasso 2023-01-19 21:42:03 UTC
Description:
Clicking on a text document file associated with Writer (.odt, .docx, etc), LibreOffice always crashes the application. The application tries to restore the document but, in the dialog that opens, there is no document to restore.
Documents open normally when selected from Writer's Open File menu.
This happens in all arm64 versions I've tried

Actual Results:
Click on a text file associated with Writer

Expected Results:
Open Writer

Reproducible: Always

Thanks Alberto. Can you please paste here the info from About > LibreOffice ?
And when you say “all ARM versions” you’ve tried, do you remember how far back that was in LibreOffice versions?

Hi, right now I'm using version 7.5

When I said that the bug presents itself in all the ARM versions that I tried, I meant that I installed version 7.3, then the 7.4 and finally now the 7.5.
I use a Microsoft Suface Pro X with Windows 11 22H2 arm64
Thank you

Alberto Grasso

Alberto, do you get a crash report dialog with the version you have? If so, can you please produce a report and share the link here?

If possible at, please also test the latest ARM build: https://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/daily/master/current.html
And see if you can collect a backtrace: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/How_to_get_a_backtrace_with_WinDbg

I imagine it is the same issue as bug 160945, but I wanted to confirm.

I'm now using the x64 version of LibreOffice on my Surface, because the arm64 version is unusable.
I just tried to install version 24.8 dev Windows arm64 and little has changed: instead of the dialog box with the document recovery message, now the document is opened however, after a couple of seconds the Writer app is closed and in the Registry Windows Events error Application Error ID event 1000 is logged, with this detail:
