Description Paul AMIET 2023-01-27 16:06:27 UTC
Description:
In Preferences/LibreOffice Writer/Compatibility, there is a check box
« Masquer les paragraphes de champs de base de données (par ex. publipostage) avec une valeur vide » translated with Google support as
"Hide database field paragraphs (e.g. mail merge) with empty value"
When saving individual files to ODF Text format, it works as expected.
When saving the same files to PDF format, it does not work : paragraph with field with empty value is not hidden

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Create a Writer file for mailmerge
2.Insert a database field which may optionally be empty for some records
3.Activate mailing menu to save the results in individual files in PDF format

Actual Results:
When the database field is empty, PDF files shows the paragraph containing this field

Expected Results:
When saving to ODF Text format, ODT files hide the paragraph containing an empty database field

Reproducible: Always

When exporting the individual ODT files (created by Mailmerge) to PDF via Export directly to PDF format, the PDF result is correct.

Hi Dieter
I have installed LO 7.5.0 with a different macOS administrative account not to interfere with my current environment LO 7.4.5.
I copied the LibO Base, Calc, Writer files in this test environment.
I reproduce the same bug.
When saving individual files to ODF Text format, it works as expected.
When saving the same files to PDF format, it does not work : paragraph with field with empty value is not hidden
Thanks

Today, my current version is
Version: 7.5.1.2 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: fcbaee479e84c6cd81291587d2ee68cba099e129
CPU threads: 8; OS: Mac OS X 10.14.6; UI render: Skia/Metal; VCL: osx
Locale: fr-FR (fr_FR.UTF-8); UI: fr-FR
Calc: threaded

I reproduce the same bug.
When saving individual files to ODF Text format, it works as expected.
When saving the same files to PDF format, it does not work : paragraph with field with empty value is not hidden

As I am new to Bugzilla for LibreOffice, I don't clearly understand the links made between my bug and META bugs.

Thanks
