Description sri_ni_vas_s 2023-02-08 19:14:13 UTC
Description:
While editing the LibreOffice Writer document I make sure there are no empty lines at the beginning of a page and save it. In addition, I also save it in .pdf format.

Next time I open the same document in LibreOffice Writer, for some reason, the tool is adding few empty lines at the beginning of one page ( each time it is a different page ) and all my formatting of subsequent pages gets shifted down by the same number of empty lines. Now I have to start correcting the document to make sure there are no empty lines in this first incident and go thro' the entire document to either edit or make sure this didn't cause any additional problems in subsequent pages, which takes a good amount of unnecessarily wasted time.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.format a LibreOffice Writer document, that has both text AND images, so there are no empty lines at the beginning of any page in the document

2. Save it. Also save it as a pdf document

3. Exit LibreOffice

4. Open the LibreOffice Writer document in LibreOffice

5. scroll thro' all pages to make sure there are no empty lines at the beginning of a page.

6. If you find a page with empty lines in the beginning of a page, then go to that same page number in the saved .pdf copy to confirm that the LibreOffice 7.5.0.3 ( X86_64 ) is doing something funny to put in the empty lines at the beginning of some pages.

Actual Results:
You will clearly see that the document that you just brought up in LibreOffice Writer has empty lines starting on some page, and this empty lines starts to cascade through subsequent pages that you would have to reformat all over again, while pdf document you saved before closing is perfectly fine.

Expected Results:
you will see empty lines in this document when you open it

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

Additional Info:
LibreOffice Write SHOULDN'T add empty lines at the beginning of some random page that I edited before and made sure there are no empty lines before I closed the document. Here are the pictures to compare.

I want to send 2 to 4 screenshots to explain the problem better.

Thank you for the screenshots.
Unfortunately, without a document for us to test, it will be hard to find the issue. I could not reproduce the issue by creating my own document from scratch.

- Do you have a minimal example document you could share, or more precise steps starting from an empty document?
- How come the file says "PPTX" at the top of the window? Which format do you use?
- Did this behaviour start with version 7.5? Do previous version of LibreOffice not add extra lines?
- Finally, please paste here the information copied from Help > About LibreOffice.

Thanks for your help!
