Description buggymcbug 2023-02-12 20:42:43 UTC
Description:
Menus for 6.x and 7.x become grey boxes when opening .doc, .odt, .docx files. Works fine in 5.x. Also .txt files work fine in 6/7.

Steps to Reproduce:
Open a .doc file in 6.4.7 portable or 7.4.3.2 portable - doesn't seem to matter what .doc file it is, the menus will all become blank (grey boxes).

The same docs work fine in 5.4.7, so it's a regression somewhere in the 6.x line.
Windows 7.

Opening a .txt file works just fine however.

Actual Results:
Menu's become grey boxes. Dialogs have just the frame with no content. The interactive cursor stops working in the text.

Expected Results:
n/a

Reproducible: Always

Please test with a clean profile, Menu/Help/Restart in Safe Mode
Comment 2 buggymcbug 2023-02-13 10:46:28 UTC
To be more explicitly clear:

All three of these are all fresh installs of the portable versions of Libre Office.
So I would expect that the profile is "fresh" automatically. If it's not then "portable" doesn't meant what I would expect it means.

Do you have Microsoft Windows 7 SP1, but with KB3063858 update?

Have you tried modifying the options for Skia? Menu/Tools/Options/View -Graphics Output.
Comment 5 buggymcbug 2023-02-13 17:56:32 UTC
I have KB2533623 installed, which is apparently basically the same as KB3063858.
Also, given this bug happens in 6.x too, it's unlikely to be anything that was added in 7.1.

---

Disabling Skia in 7.x doesn't fix it, nor does changing it to software rendering.

Same for disabling OpenGL in 6.x.
