Description Gerald 2023-02-25 20:40:05 UTC
Description:
LibreOffice Writer has lagged key input with VLC=GTK3 and Nvidia (as well as HIDPI). No problem with SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN gen or SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN kf5

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Start Libre Office with VCL gtk3
2.pressing a key multiple times

Actual Results:
Key input is lagging. Especially when changing the input language to RTL and/or when editing tables.

Expected Results:
There should not be any delay, especially, when the document is new and empty.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

Additional Info:
I use Nvidia driver 525 and have deactivated hardware acceleration, window effects, etc. No difference.

does

SAL_DISABLE_CURSOR_INDICATOR=1

make a difference in performance to you? If so, then this might be a duplicate of bug 148433, which remains a mystery however.
Comment 2 Gerald 2023-03-12 14:24:45 UTC
Thanks for your answer! I tried SAL_DISABLE_CURSOR_INDICATOR=1, but no, there is no difference. It is still lagging. It is the worst when I have switched to another language, in my case, from English to Arabic and back to English. But as I mentioned before, if I use the "gen" version, everything works very well.

I guess bug 153007 being related to this. Source of the problem is likely the 4K monitor

I guess a temporary solution would be not to use LibreOffice at high resolutions like 4k on Linux. I wonder if this problem effects Windows, too.
