Description Sebastian 2023-02-26 02:54:41 UTC
Description:
When applying a Side-only page style, e. g. selecting 'Only right' on Page Style > Page > Page layout, page numbers are all odds when continuous numbering was expected. Same with 'Only left', numbering is all even.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create or modify a style so it's only a left/right side page (Page Style > Page > Page layout > Select 'Only left' or 'Only right'). Also activate header or footer.
2. Apply style to page
3. In the activated header or footer, insert Page Number (Insert > Page Number)
4. Insert multiple pages with the same style, via automatic or manual page-break without page numbering change.
5. Observe the odd behaviour.

Actual Results:
Page numbers where only even for 'Left only' option, or odd for 'Right only'.

Expected Results:
A continuous numbering.

Reproducible: Always

I confirm it with

Version: 7.6.0.0.alpha0+ (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: d7c609dbb1bd08865b43719d2fb7c316d30bcde5
CPU threads: 4; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 19045; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win
Locale: en-US (de_DE); UI: en-GB
Calc: CL threaded

But I'm not convinced, that it is a bug. Talking about "right side page" does only make sense, if there is a left side page, too. Pnd therefore pafge numbers 1, 3, 5, ... looks logic to me. But I would pershaps expect, that page numbers in page dialog change to 1, 3, 5, ...

Let'S ask desing-team for their opinion and decision

Imma be honest, I don't care about this bug anymore, here's why: Do you see that "See also" up there? That bug 153534. Go read that related report, and the relations to that report. This left-right-page thing is a whole battlefield and the workaround of this is just to tell your printer guy which pages are one-sided and which are double-sided. Tbh, I wouldn't look too much into it.
I thank you for the support, anyway, but... just don't waste your time on this.

So let's resolve as Dieter suggests. I can follow his arguments.
