Provide a means to insert an image URL into a document and to use that URL rather than the actual image when exporting as HTML. Ideally this should include generating the URL from the browse (file selection) dialog.
Hi Shmuel I am not sure I understand. I have inserted the image URL https://www.libreoffice.org/themes/libreofficenew/img/header2.jpg in a Writer document and then File > Preview in Browser, or File > Export > HTML, and the URL (as an active hyperlink) is displayed. No image is displayed. What exactly is the problem? Please provide a series of steps, possibly with an example document if necessary, for us to test. Thank you!
I want the image to be rendered by LibreOffice, but I also want the URL to be retained and inserted into an IMG tag when converting to HTML, rather than exporting the actual image..
This is already possible by using the URL of the file when inserting the image, and ticking the options "link" at the bottom of the dialog, and using "keep link" when it gives you the choice to embed the actual file instead. The exported HTML will use the URL as a source in the image tag.
Thanks. When did that come in? Is there a way to set a default of converting files selected from Browse to relative URLs? BTW, I noticed that I can set a link for the image.
I'm not sure when that started being possible but it has been available for quite a few years. Understandably, not so easily discoverable. Unsure about a default but that might be a question for ask.libreoffice.org. Thank you!
