Created attachment 186453 [details] show as is and desired heading formatting Since I use letters (A,B,C,...) for heading1 and numbers (1,2,3,...) for heading2 I would love to change the separator from dot to blank. I learned [https://ask.libreoffice.org/t/remove-dot-between-header-numbers/90052] this is not possible until now.
I fully support this enhancement request. Due to the wide variety of numbering specifications, notably in US legal papers, my suggestion is to make Separators Before and After part of the level-specific parameters instead of having them global. The dialog (list styles and chapter numbering) could be modified as follows: Separators Before |__________] After |__________| |____| If last To get present behaviour, a dot in entered in Separator Before in levels 2-10 The box "If last" replaces Separator After in case this level is the last one to get the present effect of the "global separators. For example to enclose the number inside parentheses: level 1 Before ( level 2 Before . If last ) level 3 Before . If last ) … In US legal papers, citations are commonly of the form A(e)(2)g which could be described as: level 1 Before After (both void) level 2 Before ( After ) level 3 Before ( After ) level 4 Before After (both void) User thus gets full control over numbering formatting.
Can we make this a duplicate of bug 125993 or rather bug 120905?
(In reply to Heiko Tietze from comment #2) > Can we make this a duplicate of bug 125993 or rather bug 120905? bug 120905 is unrelated as it covers lists not chapters bug 125993 is a special case of this request but at the end I found bug 67986 from 2013. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 67986 ***
