The comparison between current LO, other office suite and old Ooo.org implementation of active slide

The current implementation for active slide in Impress and active page in Draw have quite noticeable flaws. In Impress/Draw, active slide/page are marked with a "selected" color that is more transparent than other "selected" accent color. Also, in Impress/Draw, the slideshow number or page number is included in the selection region, making the slideshow or page look unbalanced. Also, in other office suites this implementation are rarely happens.

Expected result:
1. Change the selected color of the active slideshow or page to a solid color like the active cell in Calc
2. Reduce the region of the selected color to the slideshow or page only. Numbers do not need to be included in the selection.

Actually, this request of mine happened in the OpenOffice.org era. It would be nice if the look like that is restored because in my observation it is more modern and pleasing to the eye.

StarOffice 8 Impress

This is what I would like to see. Can we just revert to the old day?

Impress slide selection color changes

I observed for a moment that the active and selected slide will have two indicator colors: first a lighter version of the system colors then on the outermost a certain color determined by the icon theme from sd/res/slide_sorter_focus_border<.png/.svg>. When I click on an empty area in the slide panel, the color changes to the color specified by the icon's theme only.

There is another color that appears when the pointer hovers over the slides that appear to be white (at least on the dark theme I tested).

StarOffice 8 Impress' slide selection color

Meanwhile, in StarOffice 8 clicking on an empty area in the slide pane will remove any existing color. While hovering over unselected slide gives it a same color but a lighter line.

Clear reason why the change was beneficial. You see what slide is the active and get feedback on cursor movement and list selection. If you take a closer look you will see the frame around the current slide/page if you deselect it from the sorter list.

Do you think we should change the design somehow? I'm against reducing the functionality and going back to SO8 times without proper feedback.

Let's keep the behavior.
