Created attachment 186643 [details] The so-called presentation styles, before and after Impress has a category of "styles", which aren't actually styles, named "Presentation Styles" (see bug 154492). These are really elements of Master Slides rather than styles of anything. Regardless, one can - in theory - create "New" styles of this kind from a regular slide: There's a "New..." item on the context menu of the sidebar with this category selected; and if one has introduced an object to a slide which doesn't originate in the Master - the "New..." is enabled. What does it do, though? 1. Create a new Impress presentation 2. Using the Menus, choose Insert > Text Box 3. Enter some text into your textbox to feel nice and grounded, e.g. "hello world" 4. Exit the text editing mode and select your textbox 5. Ensure the styles sidebar is opened 6. Choose the "Presentation Styles" category (second from the left if you're using an LTR UI) 7. Right-click the empty area after existing items 8. In the context menu, choose "New..." Expected result: Actually, I have no idea what to expect. What does this even mean? I suppose some kind of dialog should pop up for creating a new... style...? I don't know really. Actual Result: All existing items in the category become sub-items of the Background "style". WTF?? This thing is so broken! :-(
Clearly a bug in the UI. The "New" item must not exist in the presentation style category if a text box is selected.
