Description Bonin 2023-04-16 10:07:35 UTC
Description:
Messieurs,

Could you give a try to LibreOffice 7.4.5 + rename your LO directory profile if needed ? (see https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/FirstSteps#Corrupted_user_profile)

Also, please use English so more people may help.

Please respond on the bugtracker by using this link: https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=154838#

No idea how to get from 6.3.7 to 7.3.7.2 without installing LO 7.3.7.2, are you sure you didn't misread the version?

Anyway, I would advice you to uninstall any LibreOffice version then to install LibreOffice 7.4.6 (not "7.4.5" as I indicated in my previous comment by mistake) from official TDF website
https://fr.libreoffice.org/download/telecharger-libreoffice/.

Just re read your message, I see that everything is ok (at least with 7.3.7.2), so let's put this one to WFM.

Dear Sirs,
after installing 7.4.6, Writer worked OK. But today, the same problem occured again.
After a complete uninstall of 7.4.6, I followed again your instructions (deleting/renaming user profile), I re-installed 7.4.6 with the same problem.
So, I switched back to 7.3.7.2 which works perfectly at least for what I need.
Best regars

Ok let's reopen this one.
I've got no idea here so can't help=>uncc myself.

Bonin, if you are still willing to troubleshoot with a more recent version (preferably 7.5), and still see the issue, any chance you could share the actual file that was problematic, so we can test ourselves? (Or a smaller version that still displays the issue, if you don't want to make to contents public.)

From your comments:
- 6.3.7: works
- 6.4.6: bug
- 7.3.7.2: works
- 7.4.6: bug

So something odd there.

Bonin replied via email:

----- Bonin's response

Dear Sir,

thank you to take care of this bug.

In fact, the problem occurs with all my files starting with a picture. But, as you suggest, it may come from my files. I found someone on the net with the same problem.

I send you again the screen shots showing the problem under 7.4.6

all my files built on the same model do not show properly.

I send you also the same file, which opens correctly with 7.3.7.2;

I use Windows 10 home 64

Hope this is useful

Regards

----- My response

Thank you for sending those.
The issue seems related to the "show whitespace" feature.
You will see that turning "View > Whitespace" on will show your image.
Base on what you sent, I will attach a new test file with new steps, as the issue depends on the anchoring of the picture.

(As a side note, the fix for bug 142450 was problematic, and was reverted for bug 149485. I recommend testing with versions 7.4.7 or 7.5.3 or above, for more consistent results.)

(Please reply on the bug report, not via email.)

test ODT with three pictures anchored differently

Steps to reproduce:

1. Open attached ODT and see the 4 pictures
2. Turn off "View > Whitespace": all pictures still show in full size
3. File > Reload

Results:
Only the picture anchored "as character" is shown in its original size. The 3 others are shrunk to fit the sliver of page displayed as if it had no content.

More steps:
4. File > Print preview

Results:
All images displayed properly, except for the one anchored "to page": still shrunk.

5. Exit Print Preview

Results:
All images displayed properly, except for the one anchored "to page": still shrunk.

6. Export as PDF

Results:
PDF has the image anchored "to page" also shrunk.
