Description 1880-507b 2023-04-16 14:38:22 UTC
Description:
Start my PC with Windows 10 home Vers. 21H2. Since Libre Office version 7.2.1.2 (X86_64) Libre Office no longer starts when clicked. Even Libre Office files can no longer be opened directly.
Libre Office only works again after a repair run. But only for this session. When you restart, the whole process starts all over again.
What can I do to make Libre Office work properly again.
Thanks in advance.

Actual Results:
after starting my PC, Libre Office will not started when clicked.

Expected Results:
Libre Office will work properly again

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Could you try https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/FirstSteps ?

Did you mean to say 7.2.1.2, or did you mean actually mean 7.5.1.2 like in the Version field above?

I'd suggest making sure everything is uninstalled, your user profile removed (see https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile), and install version 7.5.2 (or 7.5.3 when it comes out) and test again to see if you can still reproduce.

Let us know how you go.

Hello,

sorry for the late reply.
Of course I meant version 7.5.1.2 (x68_64). Was a typo.

I uninstalled Libre Office as recommended and renamed my user profile to User-old. I then reinstalled version 7.5.1.2.
In the meantime it is like this: Libre Office starts normally after switching on the PC.
However, if I first opened my mail program (The Bat!! Vers. 10.3.3.3 (64 bit) and then Libre Office, Libre Office does not start. Only when I close the Libre Office task with the task manager, can I open Libre Office and it works correctly.
I suspect an order problem somewhere.

I look forward to your rep

Just to be sure it's not a specific problem of LO preloading, could you try again but with "LibreOffice on Windows Startup" disabled (see https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Faq/General/148), so:
- disable "LibreOffice on Windows Startup" + close LO
- reboot machine
- start your mail program
- try to start LO

Thank you for your quick response.
Since then, there has been no checkmark for Quickstarter, load LO at system startup. If you have ticked the box, the quick starter logo will appear in the taskbar at the bottom. If I now open the mail program and start LO via the quick starter in the taskbar, it works. However, LO does not start from the shortcut on the desktop. First delete it again in the task manager, or once opened via quick starter, then close and then open via shortcut on the desktop.
I look forward to your reply.

I must recognize I'm a bit stuck.

V Stuart: any thoughts here concerning this Windows specific behavior? (a pb in Windows registry or something less known?)

No, I'm a layman as far as that is concerned. Users only.

Guess it is feasible that the instance of LibreOffice running (soffice.bin) when Quickstarter is enabled and running on login could be blocking when the mail program is also active.

So, any better situation for OP if you delete your profile, uninstall LO and then custom, restart system and then install of LibreOffice without the Quickstarter doing a "custom" install? Does the Desktop or Start menu launcher function then?

It would take a few seconds longer (no soffice.bin for the quickstart is running), but it would probably be more stable.
Comment 9 1880-507b 2023-05-01 11:50:34 UTC
Did everything you suggested. Everything stays the same. Must start LO first, then everything works fine. If I start my mail program first, LO does not start from the desktop.

If I tick the LO quick starter, it appears in the lower taskbar. From there I can start LO even if the mail program is already open. But not from the desktop.

I mean in verse 7.4.6. i didn't notice it.

Since I can't find a solution, I will continue to use the version and live with this order problem.

Thank you very much for your effort. You can close the ticket.

With kind regards
