Screen shot of Impress in slide show mode, showing window title bar

In slide-show mode, Impress displays the window title bar at the top (as well as the desktop activity bar), instead of entering true full-screen mode.

I've tried many permutations of slide show settings; none fixes this. The Impress files I am using worked fine with previous versions of Impress. This bug appeared when I updated my computer to Ubuntu 23.04 and LO 7.5.2.2.

I can't repro with
Version: 7.5.3.1 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: d29ee673721b12c92b3de9b9663473211414f0db
CPU threads: 16; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 22621; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win
Locale: es-ES (es_ES); UI: en-US Calc: CL threaded

Please what Menu/View/Toolbars do you have enabled.

Test with a clean profile, Menu/Help/Restart in Safe Mode

I tried in Safe Mode: same problem: the window title bar appears in slide-show mode.

The behavior persists even when all toolbars are unchecked.

Ubuntu 23.04. LO 7.5.2.2.

Further information:

1. The center of the window title bar displays "Presenting: " followed by the file name. This looks to be intentional.

2. When not in slide-show mode, window title bar displays the file name, followed by " - LibreOffice Impress"

3. So it's not just that the window title bar remains visible; code is changing the window title bar's text to indicate presentation mode.

My system properly displays all other applications in full-screen mode. These include GIMP, darktable, the Gnome photo viewer, and Firefox.

I removed LO 7.5.2.2 from my system and installed LO 7.4.6.2.

The problem persists with LO 7.4.6.2: a window title bar displays when in slide-view mode.

This behavior did not occur with LO 7.4.6.2 running on Ubuntu 22.10. It started with Ubuntu 23.04. I had assumed that the problem was with LO 7.5 because Ubuntu 23.04 installs 7.5 by default.

Now I'm thinking that this is a problem with Ubuntu 23.04, or how LO runs on Ubuntu 23.04.

This seems to be caused by a bug in the X11 mutter display stack included in Ubuntu 23.04, not by a bug in Impress.

If I log into Ubuntu 23.04 using a Wayland display session, Impress displays correctly in slide-view mode.

I'm not a Linux user, let's see if someone else can help.

I don't repro either on Ubuntu 20.04 with GNOME 3.36.8 + Wayland and LO 7.5.3.2.

Richard, which version of GNOME do you have?

Caolán, any input on Mutter?
Comment 9 Richard Trinkner 2023-05-11 16:56:22 UTC
I have reverted to Ubuntu 22.04.2 because Ubuntu 23.04 was too buggy. On 22.04, Impress displays properly in slide-view mode.

I believe the bug is with the X11 stack in mutter, not with Impress.
