Description: Spanish spelling checker for Spain es_ES fails certain irregular verbs in the past tense (called indefinido) for 2nd person singular (tú), 1st person plural (nosostros) and 2nd person plural (vosostros). verb caer false negatives: caiste, caimos, caisteis verb creer false negatives: creiste, creimos, creisteis verb leer false negatives: leiste, leimos, leisteis verb oír false negatives: oiste, oimos, oisteis verb poseer false negatives: poseiste, poseimos, posisteis For all, the first i is incorrectly written as í in the offered suggestion. So not only should caiste etc. be considered correct, caíste etc. should be considered as incorrect. This probably affects more verbs and needs to be checked carefully. This probably affects also Spanish for other countries, not only Spain. The same occurs with the dictionary shipped in Ubuntu package hunspell-es version 1:7.2.0-2. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install Spanish spelling checker 2. Write the mentioned verbs in a document 3. Check spelling for Spain (es_ES) Actual Results: caiste is marked as incorretly spelled and caíste is given as suggestion Expected Results: caiste is marked as correctly spelled and caíste should be marked as incorrect with suggestion caiste Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: Yes Additional Info: Contact me if more information is needed. To fix this, this report needs to go to the maintainer of the files es_ES.aff and es_ES.dic
Can you please provide a source? It looks to me like most website document the use of the accent in these forms: - https://conjugador.reverso.net/conjugacion-espanol-verbo-caer.html - https://www.conjugacion.es/del/verbo/caer.php - https://www.wordreference.com/conj/esverbs.aspx?v=caer - https://www.elconjugador.com/conjugacion/verbo/caer.html Even the Real Academia: - https://dle.rae.es/caer - https://dle.rae.es/creer - https://dle.rae.es/o%C3%ADr I found only one occurrence of no accent: https://www.collinsdictionary.com/es/conjugacion/espanol/caer
