Description:
I pasted in an html table and did a format column optimal width to show partially hidden data but it did not work any more.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Paste in a html table with varied widths
2.click the select all corner
3.Select format - column - optimal width

Actual Results:
SOme cell data is still hidden

Expected Results:
All cells wide enough to show all data


Reproducible: Always


User Profile Reset: No

Thank you for the report, David.

I tested copying the table from:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fediverse

And pasting with default settings in Calc. Applying optimal width (with extra 0.2 cm) has no effect.

The issue has to do with the "Wrap text automatically" option applied to the cells when the original formatting is kept, which is tracked in bug 145911. Marking as a duplicate.

I opened my spreadsheet and clicked: select all, format - text - wrap text, to see if that was preventing auto width, but I cannot turn wrap text off.  I see it as checked, but when I click it, it does not turn off.  Is this part of the same bug?

Good spotting, thank you. I've reported it in bug 155368, same source cause but not sure if it will be the same fix.

Sorry, not same root cause, getting my bugs confused :D
Same root cause as bug 153527.
