Please test with a clean profile, Menu/Help/Restart in Safe Mode
Went to help, initiated safe mode, and also wiped out existing profile. Crashed all the same. Scrolling may to be involved.
Please test disabling Skia Menu/Tools/Options/LibreOffice/View
About Skia, you'll find more info here: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/FirstSteps#Graphics-related_issues_(_Skia_).
Libreoffice hangs at the start too for nearly a minute. Can not this be fixed?
(In reply to BrendaEM from comment #5) > Libreoffice hangs at the start too for nearly a minute. Can not this be > fixed? Argh, if possible providing a backtrace by following https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/BugReport/Debug_Information#Windows:_How_to_get_a_backtrace may help.
Yikes! That's a lot of effort to verify a bug. Did we even need OpenGL acceleration in a desktop application? BTW, like many Windows laptop owners who actually use their laptop from battery, I do not use GPU acceleration on desktop applications.
[Automated Action] NeedInfo-To-Unconfirmed
Brenda, thanks for taking the time to report this issue. However, to be able to help out when others can't reproduce the bug, we'll need more information. If collecting a backtrace is too much, I'll try to be more specific about other things you can try and information you can give us: 0. As I understand it, there's two issues: LO hangs at the beginning for a minute, and then crashes randomly and often while using it. Correct? 1. Download and install version 7.5.5, listed at the bottom of the download page: https://www.libreoffice.org/download/download-libreoffice/ -> do the hang + crash still occur? 2. If you can reach it before it crashes, paste again here the information copied with the button in Help > About LibreOffice 3. Try to make note of which actions trigger the crash 4. Do you get a crash report dialog after the crash? If so, send a crash report and share the link with us.
2 additional things to what Stéphane indicated is the fonts: 1) does it hang/crash with a specific file (an odt, docx, ... file ) or even with a brand new file? 2) some specific fonts may trigger some problem. So if you installed specific ones, you can disable them temporarily to give it a try.
