Description Mike Sapsard 2023-05-17 10:45:32 UTC
Description:
Creating a Send button in a pdf form to send it as an attachment to an email address does not work. The email application does not open.
However, creating a link to an email address does open the email application.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Create a form with a text box and a push button named Submit.
2.Set the button control action to Submit Form.
3.Set the form URL to mailto:somebody@gmail.com
4.Set the Frame to _blank, set the submission encoding to URL, set the type of submission to Get.
5.Save form.
6.Export to fdf or pdf, with structure set to export outlines.
7.Open pdf file.
8.Fill in text box, and click on submit button

Actual Results:
Button flashes, but no email opens, or is sent.

Both Foxit and the default pdf reader in Linux Mint fail.

Expected Results:
Email application should open with correct mailto address and attachment.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

Additional Info:
Nothing else.

Mike, thank you for reporting the bug. Could you please add a sample document (after step 5), because this makes it easier for us to verify the bug. Thank you.

odt file for creating a form that should open an email

Created attachment 187574 [details]
pdf file from example odt file

This file should open an email and include itself as an attachment.
It has two buttons, created using different methods. One manually and the other using the wizard that comes up with <Ctrl> + k.

I just noticed that I had used Post rather than Get, in the submitted form.
Changing Post to Get makes no difference.
Comment 6 Dieter 2023-07-25 12:08:04 UTC
Mike, thank you for the documents

Steps:
1. Open attachment 187573 [details]
2. File -> Export As -> Export as PDF
3. Open exported PDF with Acrobat reader and click button

Actual and Expected result:
New Thunderbird Window is opend with new mail and pdf-file as attachment

Version: 7.6.0.1 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 776eaf34564cbf3f034a0ba1fd1d5c32ff9ccf1c
CPU threads: 4; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 19045; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win
Locale: de-DE (de_DE); UI: en-GB
Calc: CL threaded

I also had no problem with your attachment 187574 [details], so I don't think, it's a problem with Writer.

Which version of Acrobat Rader do you use? I use version 2023.003.20215

Dieter,
I now use LO 7.5.3.2 X64 on Linux, which works correctly.
I no longer use Adobe pdf Reader or Foxit.
I found a workaround, which got over the problem. Unfortunately, I do not remember what it was.

The problem can now be cleared.
