Installed and upgrade of Libre Office 7.5.3 as I have done with previous upgrade versions in the past. It installed with no discernible problems. After it downloaded, installed and the restarted the computer I then clicked on a Writer document known to be good from an earlier version. Windows wait icon spins for a second or two and then nothing happens. Click on the Libre Office icon and the same happens. You get no feed back. I am running a Dell Inspiron 5720 with Windows 10 Home version 22H2. I can open the file, fortunately, with an older version of Open Office so I am not up the proverbial creek without a paddle. Unfortunately, I have no attachments, etc. since you get virtually no feed back.
For starters please reset/clear your user profile and check again. https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/FirstSteps#Corrupted_user_profile The Inspiron has mixed iGPU and dGPU, we've seen issues when one or the other gets stuck. The default is to test graphics using Skia Vulkan rendering, and if needed to fall back to Skia raster based "software" rendering. If the GPUs are denylisted, or if the profile includes the setting of the rendering mode to Skia raster that is a data point we'd need. If you can get it to run in Skia Vulkan, we'll need the Help -> About LibreOffice content, but also the skia.log from the profile directory.
I finally fixed this bug by uninstalling and re-installing Libre Office. What may have happened, is that Libre Office had to re-start to finish its installation. During that time, I think that it got caught up with a Windows Update and God only knows what could have happened. I re-installed and everything seems OK. I have had problems with Windows Updates in the past with the CAMERA application with it not coming up immediately after an update. Thanks for your help. Steve Rawlinson.
Thank you for the feedback, let’s put this one to WFM then!
