Description: libreoffice autosave, backup, draft .. etc features are either missing or switched off by default. And even if you set it all up once, you will lose those settings on update. kind of hardcore i guess. Steps to Reproduce: 1. use libreoffice rarely 2. work hard for days without saving document even once because other text editors just autosave your work once in a while and libreoffice should do the same 3. catch some random problem with pc 4. lose your work completely 5. if you have chance to recover your document and you missed a chance provided for some reason, your work is lost forever Actual Results: lose your work Expected Results: autosave drafts by default keep settings while updating software etc its a tool Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No Additional Info: yes, if you use libreoffice not that often.. its quite easy to forget all the frustration. yes, i lose tons of work every time i use it. Can't call that user-friendly. Again i will type text in notepad++ and will copypaste my work to do some crappy formatting last second in libreoffice. why? because notepad++ always saves my work, and libreoffice always destroys it snobby ctrl-s advice goes to hell also.
In LibreOffice 7.6 version, Backup and AutoRecovery will be enabled by default. This version will be released Week 33, Aug 14, 2023 - Aug 20, 2023. Until then, these options can be enabled by the user: Tools - Options - Load/Save - General. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 152463 ***
