Description: I am not a fan of presentation templates with visuals, except where I have been given one for a conference. At a basic level, a template provides panel structure (and should be based on a grid) and then on top of that could provide visual style (Font, paragraph and colour palettes) and finally, background and graphics elements. Currently, I'm forced to choose a template from a collection, none of which I would want to choose. A stripped down basic set (Light & Dark) gives me the structure I need and a place to apply my own more Bauhausian aesthetic. Please can we have a simple pair of templates one white/light and the other dark/anthracite (not black) with no patterns/backgrounds/graphics. Also (related, but perhaps its own bug), when I want to Save-As OTP (template), the default path should be to the templates directory (which I could edit but can't see why I'd want to) Actual Results: Not relevant for an RFE - see description Expected Results: Not relevant for an RFE - see description Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No Additional Info: Not relevant for an RFE - see description

Let's focus on this. Isn't the default (i.e. not picking a template) already the "light template"? But I know what you mean about a simple dark template. The closest we have currently is the Porfolio template. What do you think, Design/UX team? Would a pair of stripped down "Simple light" and "Simple dark" templates make sense, with a smart choice of background colour that's not plain white or plain black? > Also (related, but perhaps its own bug), when I want to Save-As OTP > (template), the default path should be to the templates directory (which I > could edit but can't see why I'd want to) Please open a separate report if needed, but note that there is "File > Templates > Save as template" which does not use the default filesave dialog. Nothing to say if the provided templates get enhanced with a dark mode, if possible. But I hesitate to agree with another template. My take: add another master to the default which would differ just in the dark background (keeping the automatic font color). (In reply to Greg from comment #0) > when I want to Save-As OTP (template), the default path should be to the templates > directory (which I could edit but can't see why I'd want to) Storing templates for yourself is just one workflow. If you create it for the conference you want to share it. Plus, it's the file manager from the OS. We should not mess with these default dialogs.
We discussed the topic in the design meeting. If the template background is set to Automatic (no image, no shape, no special color) it takes what is defined in Tools > Options > Application Colors > Document Background. And switching from Light to Dark theme adjusts all automatic colors (and System Theme should follow the OS theming). Works well with the Default template as well as many other. If the template has a special background, let's say the Grey Elegant, the colors are chosen deliberately. Providing more templates (and even master slides) makes no sense.
