Push-pins currently have two states, off (the item is not pinned) and on (the pin is set). In case of items not yet pinned it's the pin icon that shows up on hover giving a good clue what is possible. But for the On situation we need some third state that gives a clear feedback how to unpin an item. Could be similar to the remove function a color or another symbol.
I would suggest these two 1. The pushpin icon could has a mouse over state and a tooltip like "Pin the document/Unpin the document" based on current state 2. The pushpin icon should be differentiated between pinned and unpinned at least in the clearer shape. Something that clearly seen like in https://bug-attachments.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=187796

And while the tooltip is certainly a good addition I wonder if we should indicate somehow the ability to pin and to unpin. If not, let's close the ticket as NAB/WF.
Rizal, got time to create better icons?
