I'm guessing that the cell was formatted as text before introducing the formula.

In that case, if we are talking about just a few cells, one way to solve the case would be:

1. Focus on the relevant cell.
2. [CTRL]+[1] > Numbers > Format as "General" (or use a toolbar)
3. [F2]
4. [Backspace] (it will delete the last closing parenthesis of the formula)
5. [ENTER]

There are other methods too.

Please confirm that this solves the issue for you. If it doesn't, please paste the Help > About info in your next reply and attach a sample file.

Thank you for answering. I did check what you mentioned before creating a bug.

When I went to get the Help/About info, I restarted Calc. Just for fun, I retested the formula, and it worked. I had opened a CSV file and noticed the odd behavior. I then created a new file because I couldn't believe it, and it still happened. Apparently, it was a one-time problem caused by who knows what. I'll close this ticket.

The behavior went away after restarting Calc.
