I opened a new text document and entered some data into a table. Then I switched the alignment of a whole column from left to center. Afterwards the column is shown mixed, i.e. some where aligned left and some were aligned center. The buttons all showed "align center" when I put the cursor into a cell of the column.

If you turn on View > Formatting Marks, you'll see that some cells have tabs. If you remove them, the Date column with look consistent.

Resolving as "not a bug".

Tested with:

Version: 7.5.4.2 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 36ccfdc35048b057fd9854c757a8b67ec53977b6
CPU threads: 8; OS: Linux 5.15; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3
Locale: fr-FR (en_AU.UTF-8); UI: en-US
Calc: threaded

Thanks!

It's a trailing bug and invisible. How should the user know that?

This has been the behaviour since before branching out from OpenOffice.org 13 years ago.
To investigate whitespace, Formatting Marks are turned on. Many users edit documents with it always turned on.
