Description alainfrenchman@gmail.com 2023-07-01 10:44:39 UTC
Good morning to all developpers
When I receive a document under .pdf format with "1er janvier" in the text (checked OK with Acrobat)and open it with Libre Office, this mention come as "e1r janvier" - e & r being in a little police size.
There is probably a PB with editing .pdf in .Libre Office
It is not a big PB but it is annoying and cannot have faith to work on these documents.
Congratulations for all your good work
Alain

Hello, can you attach sample test file?
Comment 2 alainfrenchman@gmail.com 2023-07-14 08:37:35 UTC
Due to the fact that I cannot cut (or sample indeed) a .pdf file, I cannot publish the document that produce the bug.
I have sent it - confidentially - to anybody interested.
All the best
Alain

156115_superscriptInPDF.pdf: minimal reproducer using Garamond font

Extremely unlikely to get fixed, since LibreOffice is not a PDF editor.
This is currently flagged as Writer. Are you really editing the PDF in writer (which is harder to do) or in Draw (which is the default for opening PDFs)?
I can reproduce in Draw.

[The issue in this PDF is that superscripted characters are treated as a separate run and so end up in their own textbox which may overlap with other text. I assume there are also font substitution issues (Garamond font - which I don't have installed) - where the PDF length doesn't match the actual on-screen length of the text runs.]

Sorry I had replied directly to the member who showed interest in this PB as follows, because I had an exchange with him.

You are right the doc was opened with Draw (by default) and not Writer. My confusion ! Sorry.

As I said previously, this post could be closed as there is no much to do about this bug.

Thanks for looking into that

All the best

Alain
