Description Ingo Koglin 2023-07-06 11:35:22 UTC
Description:
LibreOffice Writer becomes unresponsible just by scrolling up in a document. After a while, it closes itself. The bug is repeatable. The document has to get repaired after each crash (which is working perfectly)

Steps to Reproduce:
1. create Writer Document and write a few pages
2. scroll fast up to the beginning of the document
3.

Actual Results:
Writer becomes unresponsive shortly after starting to scroll and crashes after a while.
I restart Writer and repair the document which works fortunately perfect.

Expected Results:
scrolling through the document without any issues

Reproducible: Always

Thank you Ingo.
Can you please test with Skia/raster (turn "Force Skia software rendering" on in Tools ▸ Options ▸ LibreOffice ▸ View) and see if it still crashes?

If you can test further, it would be great if you could let us know if version 7.2 didn't crash. You can find older versions here: https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/7.2.7.2/win/

I'm thinking this is the same as bug 149527.

Hello Stéphane

The other reported bugs under the number 149527 sound very similar to what I Encounter. I checked the setting of Skia. The hardware supported rendering was activated from the installation (I haven’t touched the setting before). I’ve activated the software mode now for further tests. But I couldn’t reproduce the error even before. But I have a suspicion, what could have triggered the crash. Since I’m writing on a Windows Tablet (CSL Panther Tab HD) I tend to use a Software Keyboard/Mouse-switch that works over LAN called Barrier https://sourceforge.net/projects/barrier.mirror/ (v 2.3.4-release c43597c2). When the crashes happened I used the mousewheel over Barrier to scroll through my document. After closing the program (to work undisturbed on my main PC) I didn’t encountered the crashes anylonger on my Tablet.
I can provide you with a System Information file if necessary.

Best regards Ingo

Could be a long shot, but what if you tried this: https://github.com/input-leap/input-leap

Quote: "Input Leap is a fork of barrier, by barrier's active maintainers."

Ingo, are you able to test again in a current version (the latest 24.2 or 7.6 releases)?
And have you looked into Buovjaga's suggestion?
Please let us know if you can still reproduce the crash.
Thank you!

Thank you for reporting back. Let's close as "works for me" then.
