The dimension line dialog has a lot of settings on the left side. But their description does not really help to understand their purpose. The ODF 1.3 standard has the same problem. This will now be improved in ODF 1.4. Now images are added to illustrate which part of a dimension line is affected by which attribute and the description defines some technical terms. I think it would be good to use the same approach in LibreOffice help and guides. You can find these images in the attachment of the related OASIS-2949 issue [1] or in the draft of ODF 1.4 [2]. The descriptions there refer to the related ODF attributes but the images themselves have only numbers. So it is possible to take these images and refer to the settings in the dialog. [BTW, a <draw:measure> position is determined by two 'reference points'. LibreOffice has not UI for them. Related reports are bug 90027 and bug 137126.] [1] https://issues.oasis-open.org/browse/OFFICE-2949 [2] https://github.com/oasis-tcs/odf-tc/blob/master/docs/odf1.4/part3-schema/OpenDocument-v1.4-part3-schema-tracked.odt; therein section 10.3.12 <draw:measure>
Thanks Regina. I agree that illustrations would help. Access the dialog: 1. Open Draw 2. Shape > Insert > Line and Arrows > Dimension Line 3. Context menu > Dimensions... Help page: https://help.libreoffice.org/latest/en-US/text/simpress/01/05150000.html
